Purebred Carnica queen bees from Slovenia

Not all Carnica queen bees from Slovenia are purebred Apis mellifera carnica queen bees!

Although Slovenia is populated with Apis mellifera carnica and open/randomly mated Carnica queen bees have a high percentage of purity, this does not mean that they are purebred Carnica bees, because most of them only have a known maternal line. Even purebred Carnica queens from Slovenia need a well-known pedigree of the paternal line. At the purebred breeding stations, we know the pedigree of both lines and the queens that are mated at these breeding stations have 100% pure genetics of Apis mellifera carnica. Purebred Carnica queen bees from Slovenia are a real diamond and they offer a huge breeding potential, especially in the next generation.

Purebred queens are young queens reared in the current year with controlled mating. We have a known both line of the Apis mellifera carnica subspecies on the maternal side, as well as the paternal line, which was selected by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.

The queens are bred at the breeding station in Lučka Bela. The isolated and uninhabited glacial valley, reaching deep into the heart of the Savinja Alps, hiding many attractions, lies at an altitude of 1100m.

Lučka Bela is a side valley of the Podvolovljek area and rund deep into the Kamnik Savinja Alps. It runs in a south-north direction and is approximately 6 kilometers long. It is surrounded by mountains, Velika Planina in the west, and the mountain range towards Korošica and Ojstrica in the east. Its location makes it ideal for controlled mating.

Purebred MS Carnica Queens are available from mid-June to the end of August.

Due to boutique breeding the quantity is extremely limited!
